If you have visited our Cherryfield gift shop location recently (above the Paisley Loon), you may have been met by a different bright YOUNG face behind the counter.
Rising Tides Collective was approached by the amazing folks at Healthy Acadia with an offer we absolutely could not refuse: paid employees! Healthy Acadia works with the Maine Career Exploration Work Experience Program to give paid work opportunities to young people (ages 16-24) for a limited number of hours. Up until this point, our Collective has operated solely through the hundreds of hours donated by our volunteers. These young people are doing a terrific job and giving US the time to focus on developing programs for the fall and winter, researching and writing grants, and all the administrative tasks that go along with running a nonprofit - PLUS creating our own art!
